Gran clos (blanc)(2002)
Gran clos (blanc)(2002)

Vines, like people, often reach their peak in the face of adversity. This highly limited cuvée (only one barrel per year) is hand made from 100-year-old vines that suffer daily to survive in dense slate soils on steep hillsides. Their fruit offers a unique mineral complexity that could come from no other place on earth and has done so since Carthusian monks first planted vines in Priorat in the 12th century (Priorat is the Catalan word for 'priory').

Gran Clos (Blanc) is the perfect companion to foie gras, blue cheese and any meat, fish or shellfish dish prepared with fruit.

Matured c.10 months in French (100%) oak barrels.
70-80% Garnacha Blanca, 20-30% Macabeo. Picked from early September to early November.
Tasting Notes
Typically a straw yellow color with green highlights and golden rim. Expressive and complex aromatic intensity featuring ripe fruits, white flowers, quince, peach and other exotic fruits on a spicy and mineral bottom. Well balanced, with good structure. Wide, sticky and voluminous mouth feel with great concentration where the mature fruit is felt. Great acidity and mineral character. Dry, very persistent and aromatic finish.
